Q1: How do I restore my files using TOTALcomputerbackup?
A: Restoring your files using TOTALcomputerbackup is very easy and can be carried out in three steps:
-
Select the backup definition that you want to restore.
-
Select where you wish to restore the files to, either the original or new location.
-
Click either the restore files to "original" or "new" location button.
Q2: How long will it take to restore my files?
A: The time taken to restore your files is dependant on your connection type, modem speed,
Internet traffic and quantity of data selected for restore.
Note: For an indication of transfer times associated with frequently used
files see table.
Q3: Can I cancel a restore once it has started?
A: Yes, at the bottom of the Restore Progress Meter window there is a "Cancel" button that will allow you to
cancel the current restore in progress.
Note: Any data transferred from TOTALcomputerbackup will be restored to the selected location
up to the point that the restore was cancelled.
Q4: Can I restore only recently backed up files?
A: No, you can restore any file within any backup definition currently available as listed in the restore
window of the TOTALcomputerbackup application. This would be dependant on the settings used in the backup program.
For example: you could save a version of a particular file every night for a month. You would then be able to
restore that file from any of the versions stored over the previous 30 days.
Note: There is no limit to the number of versions of a file that can be saved. To
adjust this simply alter the number in the backup cycle box to your requirement. This number is automatically
set by TOTALcomputerbackup at 30.
Q5: Can I restore a single file?
A: Yes, simply select the file you wish to restore from the list of files and folders and choose to
restore it to either a new or its original location.
Q6: How can I prevent someone else restoring my data?
A: For security TOTALcomputerbackup requires that you enter your password before you are able to access the
restore area
on your software and there for further security if 3 wrong attempts are made the software will lock you
out denying any access whatsoever.
